Getting your prescription medication at a drugstore
The current process involves the patient who has to visit the issuing
medical proffesional to pick up a piece of paper containing the
receipe or prescription.
For this visit: let us assume that the identity of the patient is
known to the doctor.
The next step in the process is the patient visiting a drugstore.
This drugstore is usually located either close to the home of the
patient, close to the doctors office, where the patient may wish
to remain anonymous, or located at a central point in town, a shopping
mail, a railway station or buzzy intersection. Again a location
where the patient may not want to reveil his or her identity.
A secondary aspect is that of sending legal representation, a delegate
(a parent, child, spouse, anybody you trust) to pick up the prescription.
The SIRB is conceived to handle this situation.
- Optional: The patient visits the doctors office. This visit
is not necessary the doctor can issue the presription into the
"prescription database" to be matched with the patients
identity. (This benefits patients with long illnesses, or patients
travelling as tourists or on business trips)
- The patient visits any drugstore and informs the chemist that
there is a prescription waiting.
- The chemist uses the SIRB terminal to issue a request to the
SIRB asking all current unfullfilled prescriptions for the patient.
This request has to be approved by the patient which is how the
SIRB knows how to select the patient. The chemist does not know
the identity of the patient.
- The SIRB passes the request to the prescription data repository
and is presented the answer "the information for the patient"
encrypted with the public key of the patient. This way the SIRB
is not able to link the patient identity with the prescription
data.
- the SIRB passes on the information to the originating SIRB terminal
where the chemist can read the prescription and fullfill it.
- Upon fullfillment the chemist notices such on the SIRB terminal
(information again confirmed by the patient and presented to the
"prescription data repository") and the medical insurance
transaction as well as the sales
transaction is carried out.
- End of process. The patient has the prescribed medicin and remained
anonymous to the chemist as well as the SIRB
